We have put in place a strong social value programme, supporting a range of partner organisations whose values we share and encourage our staff to contribute directly to these or other personal initiatives, making time available alongside our fee earning work.

Our longest standing partnership is with Police Care, the charity for serving and veteran police officers and staff, volunteers, and their families. We have provided pro bono consulting support, including helping to map and refine support pathways as Police Care’s range of services expands to include physical and mental healthcare support, counselling, veterans’ peer support and retraining. We also fundraise for Police Care in more active ways, including half marathons, 10k runs and a sponsored walk for the less active in our team.

White Ribbon works to address attitudes and behaviours that promote violence against women and girls, focusing on the role of men as allies. Principle One has become a Supporter Organisation and has appointed Ambassadors and Champions, committing to raise awareness both internally and externally.  We have put in place policies and guidelines to support our staff and promote zero tolerance of violence or harassment of women and girls.

Diversity is another issue that is important to us at Principle One. High performing teams thrive on diversity and we are proud to support Coding Black Females in their work to break down barriers to encourage black women from a wide range of backgrounds to enter the technology workplace and to support them as they build successful careers. We work with Coding Black Females to mentor, run Empowerment evenings across their community and supported their first Black CodHer bootcamp in 2021.

We are proud to be part of the Employers’ Initiative on Domestic Abuse and have worked to raise awareness across our team of the many forms that domestic abuse can take. We have put in place best practice processes to support employees who are affected by domestic abuse and those that report it. As the workplace can often be a victim’s only respite from abuse, we want all affected staff to know they will be heard and supported at Principle One.

Principle One is a secondment partner of the Police Now national graduate leadership programme. Through a strong focus on neighbourhood policing, Police Now seek to attract fresh talent from a diverse range of backgrounds. We offer secondments to Police Now to provide an opportunity to develop participants’ understanding of the role that industry can play in supporting policing and how technology can be used effectively in their roles.
